Wahoka!
What a great weekend we had at Caspers! Thanks to the Trailblazers for planning and running such a fun event! Perfect camping weather, a huge turn-out (we had over 225 people!) and lots of fun including the Friday-night movie, Regalia presentations, Taste of Rising Son dinner and a possibly record-breaking induction ceremony...we inducted over 30 new families into Rising Son! A special thank you to the Rattlesnakes for building and manning their Regalia haunted house well into the night - probably the most interactive Regalia experience I've ever seen! On the subject of Regalia, congrats to Mike and Justin Stimson, our council Stargazers for organizing the "Dangerous Creatures" theme - and for winning the event's Navigator Award - well done!
The campfire ceremony on Saturday night was a lot of fun for Tyler and I - the laughs made it worth the work - and we appreciate everyone's help in running it and participating. I'm sure everyone is waiting to see if the Pie Assassin joins the Interrupting Cow as a recurring character in our campfires - I know I'll be packing a towel just in case! Tom and Ryder Flowers made a great debut in their council Rockstar roles - and with backup from their Frontiermen circle rocked it all the way to their well-deserved Hubie award! We also had the chance to enjoy our first story from our council Storytellers Joe and Joseph Carlos - funny and well-done...can't wait to hear more! Skits from the Rattlesnakes and Pirates showed we have lots of talented dads and sons - going to be a lot of fun getting the chance to enjoy more as the year goes on!
Thanks again for all the help in working with the Rangers on parking and quiet-times...I'm very pleased to pass on the Ranger's appreciation for a easy weekend...especially for such a large group. Tyler and I are looking forward to the upcoming Cowboy's event at Camp Scherman...let's keep the momentum going as we get ready for the Holidays - see you there!
